Fethiye International Film Festival

FROM STONE TO SCREEN: KADYANDA

The Fethiye Film Festival’s poster journey, which began in 2023, brings a trace from a different city in Lycia to life through the language of cinema each year.

In 2026, this trace is Kadyanda.

Kadyanda’s stones, its theater, and the Uzeblemi Monument are pieces of a story that spans thousands of years. People have always left traces of their lives on a surface: on stone, in words, in images…

Stories were told to people in Kadyanda’s theater.

Traces were left on the stones.

Today, however, we bring our stories to the movie screen.

The film strip winding through the stones on the poster creates a path between these two eras.

The vivid pink background, black lines, and blue film strip used on the poster deliberately distance the ancient city from being presented as a traditional “archaeological image.”

Kadyanda’s past is reinterpreted through a contemporary and bold graphic language.

From the past to the present, from stone to the screen…

People change, the ways we tell stories change; the desire to leave a mark remains the same.

FROM KADYANDA TO THE SCREEN.

FROM STONE TO THE SCREEN, FROM THE PAST TO THE FUTURE.

MESSAGE FROM THE FESTIVAL DIRECTOR

Cinema, a universal language, brings together different cultures, stories, and emotions, making us all part of a shared dream. We, the Fethiye Photography and Cinema Arts Association, set out on this journey four years ago with this very dream. Today, we are delighted to see this dream grow and flourish with the 4th Fethiye International Film Festival.

As we bring our festival to you, our valued audience, in 2026, we are also experiencing the excitement and pride of gaining an international identity. At this festival, we take great joy not only in sharing films with you but also in sharing the hard work, passion, and stories hidden deep within the human spirit.

Our festival, intertwined with Fethiye’s unique natural beauty and the region’s deep-rooted historical heritage—the Lycian Civilization—aims to bring the magic of cinema to life from local, national, and international perspectives.

This year, our festival poster was inspired by the ancient city of Cadianda, one of the major cities of the Lycian Federation. This ancient city, bearing the traces of history, reflects our festival’s cultural identity and the region’s rich heritage.

Our festival program, featuring both short and feature-length films, also includes panels, discussions, and special presentations. Through our events, which offer the opportunity to explore different facets of the art of cinema, we aim to further enrich the festival experience.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the institutions that contributed to making our festival a reality, our supporting partners, our hardworking colleagues, our esteemed directors, and, of course, the film lovers who are the true owners of our festival. Each of your contributions on this journey makes our festival more meaningful and powerful.

Let’s come together to witness the new worlds unfolding on the screen; let’s draw inspiration from diverse stories and share the magic of cinema.

Welcome to the 4th Fethiye International Film Festival.

With love,

CANAN TOR

About Us

The Fethiye Photography and Cinema Arts Association (FEFSAD) was founded in 2014 and operates under the umbrella of the Turkish Photography Federation. As a non-profit organization, it aims to promote and popularize the arts of photography and cinema by contributing to their advancement in the areas of culture, education, and the arts.

Through the talks, educational programs, exhibitions, workshops, fieldwork, and collaborations it organizes, our association supports the development of individuals of all ages interested in the arts of photography and cinema, thereby contributing to Fethiye’s cultural awareness.

Film Festival Rationale

Cinema is a collective medium of mass communication that reflects society’s values, beliefs, and traditions and stirs people’s emotions. Cinema emerges from within society; it reflects society’s mindset and values and holds up a mirror to them. Through its visual and auditory elements, it makes the social structure more enduring and easier to visualize in the mind. For this reason, the art of cinema has a profound impact on society and its audience.

In Fethiye—which boasts Muğla’s most extensive geography and cultural infrastructure—we have created this initiative with the desire to foster cultural tourism alongside summer, alongside nature and sports tourism, we aim to foster cultural tourism. Driven by our belief that cinema will enrich social consciousness, we created the Fethiye Film Festival—which has been crowned with the interest and appreciation of the people of Fethiye—to cultivate a cultural atmosphere beginning in our city and to draw the world’s attention to this rich region. We believe it is necessary to restore the attention, value, and richness that the “Lands of Light” deserve.

Purpose of the Film Festival

Through the collaboration of the people of Fethiye, relevant institutions, civil society organizations, cinema professionals, and volunteers, we aim to contribute to our city through film culture tourism;

To establish the infrastructure necessary for cinema—the seventh art within the triangle of science, art, and education—to contribute to the city’s tourism;

and to foster a unique vision through guest talks, workshops, film screenings, panels, and conferences, thereby anchoring our cultural values within a national and international framework to ensure their sustainability.
